Who we’re looking for

Toyota’s Production Engineering Powertrain Department for Battery Equipment and Assembly is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Engineer – Powertrain Battery.

The primary responsibility of this position is to prepare and coordinate Powertrain machining and assembly lines to support new model launches at Toyota Battery Manufacturing North Carolina.

The person in this role will support the Powertrain department's objective to execute Capital Projects from planning through Start of Production (SOP).


What you’ll be doing

• Developing process plans for battery production lines within the Powertrain department with direct support from the senior engineer/manager.

• Supporting the cost planning, budget creation, machine specification, procurement, validation, installation, pre-production trials, and launch of machining or assembly battery production lines.

• Creating and maintaining detailed schedules and budgets for assigned areas.

• Participate in cross-functional working groups across the local facility and corporate departments to achieve project goals.

• Participate in a mentor program to grow as an engineer and learn from others within the department

• Create, track, and complete Key Point Indicators (KPI) associated with the project

• Engage and resolve technical issues including external vendors, suppliers, and customers, all while achieving project KPI’s for the project.


What you bring

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering or similar technical field

• Experience in an engineering role, implementing processes for high-volume manufacturing (2 years Required, 5 years Preferred)

 • Experience in detail schedule creation for capital projects over $250K, including KPI / milestone tracking and budget management (2 years Required, 5 years Preferred)

• AutoCad experience, including the ability to read, interpret, and modify 2D drawings

• Ability to work weekends and shutdown work (such as July and December shutdowns) as needed

• Ability to travel up to 25%+ both domestic and international


Added bonus if you have

• Automotive Production Engineering experience in one or more of the following: Assembly, Paint, Welding, Stamping

• Machining Tooling experience, including procurement of machine tools and detailed cost analysis

• PLC experience, including the ability to investigate and troubleshootCNC experience, including the ability to interpret NC code and make machine adjustment

• Robot experience, including the ability to interpret code and teach

• Experience and/or exposure to battery manufacturing process

• Cleanroom experience in a manufacturing environment
