What to Expect
Tesla is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Energy Validation Infrastructure team with a focus on continuous integration and software infrastructure/tooling.
This candidate will own the test automation pipeline that enables firmware and software validation on real product hardware, starting with a code change and ending with test execution and reporting.
The team is responsible for building robust, scalable tools that let us develop and validate all new products at scale. Serving all of Tesla Energy, we work directly with development, testing, and reliability teams on all new components and products. Our tools are also used by vehicle and autopilot teams, whom we collaborate with closely.
This is a high impact role, as these groups rely on us to produce tools and infrastructure that are critical in our mission to produce best-in-class products that accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy.
What You’ll Do
> Test station management: image definition/deployment, metrics collecting/reporting/visualization, reservation system to enable both manual and automated testing
> Intelligent test scheduling: schedule tests based on automated triggers (either nightly, by firmware builds, or manually via a custom web UI) and deploy them efficiently according to resource availability.
> Health of infrastructure and test systems: databases and dashboards for metrics collection and interactive reporting/visualization, automated alerting and resolution
> Deployable test environments: test dependency packaging and deployment
> Build robust tools to interface with hardware, execute tests, and evaluate results
> Continuously improve our products: work with teams within our org to understand their needs and develop high-value solutions that accelerate our test velocity and, most importantly, product quality
What You’ll Bring
> Attention to detail, demonstrated ownership of critical infrastructure, self-starter
> Ability to develop both front-end and back-end tooling, including customer facing UI and low-level hardware interfaces
> Experience with required tools: git, Docker, Jenkins, postgres/influx DB, dashboarding/visualization tools (or equivalent where applicable)
> Highly proficient in Python
> Work effectively with various consumers/teams, effective communicator
> BS degree in Computer Science, Mechatronics, Electrical/Software Engineering or equivalent, with practical software engineering experience or proof of exceptional skills in related fields.

Expected Compensation
$104,000 - $348,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
