Detailed Job Description

The Financial Accountant’s focus will be the timely preparation of accurate and complete financial reports. The Financial Accountant will also be an advisor to other members of the Finance department and operations teams, helping to assess the system requirements, accounting treatment and processes associated with sustaining new business activities.



Accountabilities: 

The accountabilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

• Coordinate and prepare monthly reporting Financial Statement Package and quarterly financial statements, acting as one of the key team liaisons between local controlling team and head office working level teams

• Coordinate month end close process

• Prepare/review monthly reporting financial statement package and supplemental analysis

• Coordinate and prepare balance sheet reconciliations

• Prepare and coordinate financial presentations and analysis for management

• Research complex accounting issues, document accounting policies and provide guidance to other departments

• Identify and develop new processes for Financial Reporting as reporting needs change or per business request

• Work with COE to build new reports in Analysis or BPC as needed to meet business needs or enhance processes

• Calculate and assess Asset Retirement Obligations (ARO) for the non-operated assets for financial reporting and analysis proposes

• Prepare quarterly Debt Covenants package

• Book Lease entries and evaluate contracts for leases

• Provide backup BPC and FI/CO master data support

• Coordinate and consolidate annual financial statements and notes and coordinate with auditors to plan field work

• Prepare and/or review annual audited financial statements and notes in accordance with IFRS

• Assist with coordination and consolidation of forecasts and budget

• Complete ad-hoc projects for the Controller and other finance teams as required

• Provide backup for cost center creation/master data setup



Qualifications: 

• Undergraduate degree in BusinessProfessional accountant designation required

• Minimum of 4 years related professional work experience required

• Oil & gas industry and/or Big 4 audit firm experience would be considered an asset

• Proficient in use of advanced excel tools

• Prior experience with large financial systems (preferably SAP ECC, Analysis, BPC) preferred

• Prior experience writing IFRS technical analysis memos considered an asset

• Confident, detail orientated and enthusiastic team player

• Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and analytical skills

• Flexible and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously to meet the time demands of unpredictable activities

• Capable of handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environment

• Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills

• Excellent communication skills (oral and written)

• Ability to communicate in Mandarin an asset

• Adoption and demonstration of PCC Values (Honorable, Unified, Passionate, Accountable)
