Need-Based Scholarships

We invest in our community with need-based scholarships—grants that don’t need to be paid back.

Need-based scholarships make up the majority of our financial aid offers, so our students can fully participate in our community without the burden of debt. We believe in the value of diverse perspectives to stretch our minds and strengthen our impact, which is why we’re making it financially possible for talented students from all backgrounds to explore life at Hopkins.

You’ll be automatically considered for all Hopkins need-based scholarships when you apply for financial aid. If you’re eligible, you’ll be notified at the time of your admissions decision.

How to Apply for Financial Aid

UPCOMING DEADLINE November 15, 2023

IMPORTANT CODE

FAFSA school code: E00473

CollegeBoard CSS Profile code: 5332

* Submit the FAFSA by the financial aid deadline for your decision plan.

SUBMIT FASFA FORM HERE

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is used to determine your eligibility for federal funding, loans, and work-study. It asks questions about you and your parent(s)’ financial situation, so it’s helpful to have recent records on hand before you get started. After you fill out the form, you’ll be prompted for Hopkins’ school code: E00473. Submitting the FAFSA is free for all students.

> Undocumented and DACA applicants are not eligible for federal student aid nor required to complete the FAFSA. However, if you have a Social Security Number, you can still complete the FAFSA as you may be eligible for state or college aid.

> If your parents are divorced or separated, your custodial household (the parent you live with the most) needs to submit the FAFSA. If you live with both parents equally, the parent who provided the most financial support over the past year should submit the FAFSA.IMPORTANT FAFSA DEADLINE UPDATE:

This year, due to the implementation of the FAFSA Simplification Act, the FAFSA will not be available until December. Early Decision I applicants applying for financial aid will still need to submit the CSS Profile by November 15, and the FAFSA when it becomes available. See our FAFSA Simplification FAQ for additional information.

* Submit the CSS Profile by the financial aid deadline for your decision plan.

SUBMIT HERE

The CSS Profile is an online application universities across the country use to award institutional aid. Like the FAFSA, it asks questions about your financial situation—so before you get started, you should gather any recent records you have. Enter the code 5332 to send Hopkins your information. Submitting the CSS Profile is free for U.S. students whose family income is below $100,000.

> If your parents are divorced or separated, you and your custodial parent (the parent you live with the most) will complete a CSS Profile together. Your non-custodial parent will also need to fill out their own CSS Profile. We realize that issues of college support may be complicated in divorced and separated families, and we evaluate each situation individually. If you believe special circumstances exist in your family, please review the CSS Profile Waiver Request for the Noncustodial Parent.

After You Submit

1, Once we receive your FAFSA and CSS Profile, we may find we need additional information, such as a tax return or other verification of your family’s income. If so, you’ll get an email from IDOC, the College Board’s document upload service, letting you know the next steps.

2, We’ll use the information you provide in your financial aid application to figure out what you and your family can expect to contribute toward your college costs.

3, We’ll reach out via email if there’s anything else we need to determine your financial aid offer.

4, To continue receiving financial aid, you must reapply each year. While most families’ financial aid offers stay the same, changes to your financial circumstances may impact your eligibility.

Indicate that you think you’ll need financial aid on your admissions application.

If you’re an international student and think you’ll need financial aid, you should indicate this on your admissions application, since you won’t have the opportunity to apply for financial aid later on.
