Caltech Scholarships

Caltech Scholarships are gifts awarded from institutional or endowed funds to help cover the cost of attending Caltech. Unlike loan and Work-Study funds, there is no standard amount of scholarships you should expect in your package. The award amount depends entirely on your demonstrated financial need. Scholarships can be renewed each year, though the exact amount may change according to your level of need in future years.

Named Scholarships

Some of Caltech's financial aid funds come from gifts that Caltech has received. These funds are awarded as scholarships that are named for their donor. Named scholarships are also need-based, but some have a merit component. If you have sufficient need and meet the specifications for one or more named scholarships, you will be automatically considered for those scholarships.

Any named scholarships you receive will be used to replace a portion of your Caltech Scholarships. If you receive a named scholarship, you may be asked to write a thank-you letter to one or more donors. Many donors are lifelong friends of the Institute, and they appreciate hearing about student life at Caltech today.

New International Applicants - First-Years ( Undergraduate)

1, Apply for California Institute of Technology admission HERE

Most Caltech students apply using our First-Year Application and use the Common App or QuestBridge Application. If you're an international student, you're subject to different requirements, which are listed separately. In addition, we also welcome students for transfer admission and others through our 3/2 program.

2, Register for the 2023-2024 CSS Profile after you have been selected for admission. Designate "California Institute of Technology" as one of the recipients by using our CSS Code 4034.

Please ensure that you input your SSN correctly on the Profile application. The SSN you report on your Profile must match the SSN you report on your FAFSA. If these numbers do not match, your financial aid application will be delayed.

Notice: International applicants who do not apply for financial aid by published deadlines, or who are denied aid for their first year at Caltech, are not eligible for need-based financial aid for any other academic period while they are undergraduates at the Institute (with the exception of citizens and permanent residents of Canada and Mexico). Those with financial aid offers will be eligible to apply for assistance in subsequent years. All eligible students must reapply for aid each year.

California Institute of Technology scholarships for International students (Postgraduate )

Instructions

In order to be considered for named scholarships, you will need to tell Caltech about your interests, activities, accomplishments, future plans, etc. by filling out the 2023-24 Scholarship Data Form. There are two portions of the Scholarship Data Form: the main form and the Addendum.

You can access both portions of the Scholarship Data Form by logging on to the My Financial Aid module here Navigate to the "Scholarship Data Form" section to begin the application. The Scholarship Data Form Addendum can be found under the "Forms" section of My Financial Aid.
